Abdulla Faiz appointed as MIFCO's chairperson
Business veteran Abdulla Faiz has been appointed chairperson and board member of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), as part of efforts to strengthen the state fishing company's management.
Abdulla Faiz, a veteran of the business industry, has been appointed as chairperson and a board director of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO).
The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) said Faiz's appointment to the role is aimed at strengthening the management of MIFCO, the state-owned fishing company.
Faiz brings more than 30 years of valuable experience in advancing business and tourism in the Maldives. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Australian Institute of Business.
He has previously held senior positions at several major state enterprises, having been appointed Chairman of Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) on 13 February 2019, and having also served as Chairman of the Board of State Trading Organization (STO).
Over his long career in business, Faiz has also held notable roles at major private companies in the Maldives, including Managing Director of ADK Trade and Shipping, Director to the Chairman at Villa Shipping and Trading Company, and Director of Marketing and Promotions at Villa Hotels.
He has additionally held various senior positions across the hospitality, logistics, catering and investment sectors.
Faiz has played a leading role in establishing several of the Maldives' business associations, and is among the founders of the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Maldives Traders Association, the Maldives Association of Construction Industries, and the Restaurant Association of Maldives.
He has also served as Secretary General of the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and has been a life member of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2001, as well as serving as its Vice President.
