Maldives Islamic Bank has extended the application deadline for its "MIB Guesthouse Awards 2026" to 14 September, following requests from the public.
Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) has extended the application deadline for its "MIB Guesthouse Awards 2026," following requests from a number of interested parties.
Applications were originally set to close on 31 August, but the deadline has now been extended to 23:59 on 14 September.
The awards will recognise 20 winners across three categories. These include 16 awards for guesthouses, split across two tiers, three individual awards for figures in the tourism industry, and a special award for "Guesthouse Tourism Champion Island," recognising the most outstanding island in the sector.
The awards are aimed at promoting the Maldives' local tourism industry, honouring standout service providers, guesthouses and islands within the sector.
Crowe Maldives Advisory will serve as an independent third party overseeing the evaluation process to ensure it is conducted fairly.
According to MIB, the bank's objective through the awards is to raise the standard of local tourism in the Maldives, encourage innovative and sustainable services, and recognise Maldivian hospitality.
